The Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) Student/Faculty Art Show

The Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) invites the Nantucket community to the annual Student/Faculty Art Show, April 8–17, at the Joyce and Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street. The opening reception is on Friday, April 8, 5–7 p.m. and is open to the public.

All AAN faculty, students, interns, mentors, and mentorees are invited to submit and exhibit their artwork in the exhibition. Families are encouraged to participate at the opening to toast the success of the students.

“Anyone who has taken or taught a class or workshop in the past year is eligible to participate,” said Liz Hunt O’Bien, AAN public programs coordinator. “It is a great way to see our student’s work — in all stages of experience.”

The shores of Vancouver Island’s wild west coast are overflowing with Whale based Art & celebrations during this week’s Pacific Rim Whale Festival, as they celebrate the arrival of upwards of 20,000 grey whales on their northbound migration from the Baja Peninsula to Alaska’s Bering Strait and beyond.

Nantucket Historical Association purchase George Inness painting

The Friends of the Nantucket Historical Association have purchasing an oil on board painting by major Nineteenth Century American landscape artist George Inness (1825-94) titled “Back of Nichols’ Barn, ‘Sconset” at Christie’s American paintings, drawings and sculpture sale on March 3.
